Oil and filter service
Short winter trips are harder on oil than highway miles.
Cooling system and overheating
Radiators, thermostats, water pumps, hoses and coolant.
Heater core and cabin heat
Weak heat with a full reservoir is usually trapped air or a blocked core.
Belts, hoses and tensioners
A failed serpentine belt takes charging, cooling and steering assist with it.
Starting and charging
Starters, alternators, cables and grounds, tested rather than guessed at.
Fuel system
Fuel pumps, filters, injectors and gauge sending units.
Transmission service
Fluid and filter service, plus diagnosis of shifting complaints.
Exhaust
Mufflers, pipes, hangers and leaks that reach the cabin.
Leaks and drips
Bring a photo of the spot on your driveway and note the colour.
Brake pads and rotors
A squeal means the pads are low and grinding means they are gone.
Brake fluid and hydraulics
A sinking pedal points to the master cylinder, a spongy one to air or a swollen hose.
Pulling, shaking and noise under braking
We drive the vehicle before quoting brake work, because each symptom has a different fix.
Parking brakes
Cables seize from corrosion on vehicles that sit outside all winter.
Suspension and shocks
Worn dampers lengthen stopping distance, and washboard gravel ages them fast here.
Steering components
Tie rods, ball joints, bushings, wheel bearings and steering racks.
Tires, mounting and balancing
Set pressures cold, to the sticker in the door jamb rather than the sidewall.
Alignment
We check the front end before aligning anything, since alignment does not drift on its own.
Seasonal tire changeovers
Winter compounds stay pliable where all season rubber stiffens.
Batteries
A battery can pass a voltage check and still fail under load, so we load test it.
Alternators and charging faults
Odd electrical behaviour is worth a charging test before anyone replaces modules.
Parasitic drain
Finding what will not go to sleep means measuring current draw over time.
Air conditioning
Refrigerant is not consumed, so cool rather than cold usually means a leak.
Blower motors and cabin airflow
A blower that works only on high is almost always the resistor.
Lighting
Headlights, tail lights, brake lights, markers and trailer connectors.
Wipers, washers and defrost
Summer washer fluid freezes in the lines, and a broken defrost grid line can be repaired.
Wiring, grounds and connectors
We would rather trace a circuit properly once than replace a part and hope.
What a diagnostic actually is
A code names the circuit that was out of range. It does not name the broken part.
A lean code can come from a cracked hose, a leaking gasket, a weak pump or a bad sensor, so the real work starts after the code. We pull freeze frame data, then test pressure, vacuum, sensor readings and wiring. If a fault needs more time than expected, you hear from us before that time is spent.
Reading your own warning lights
A steady check engine light means get it looked at soon. A flashing one usually means a misfire that damages the catalytic converter, so ease off and get it in.
Red oil pressure and temperature warnings are stop now lights. A brake, ABS or traction control light that stays on deserves prompt attention.
Pre trip inspection
Battery, belts, hoses, coolant, tires, brakes and any growing leak, checked before you leave.
Pre purchase inspection
Put it on our lift before money changes hands.
Winter readiness check
Cheap in September and a real problem at twenty below in January.
Second opinion
Bring another shop's estimate and the vehicle, and we will tell you plainly what we see.
Maintenance planning
What your vehicle needs now, and roughly when the bigger items are coming.
Noise and symptom diagnosis
If you cannot describe the noise, bring it in and drive it with us.
Not sure which of these it is?
Describe the noise, the smell or the light in whatever words you have. We will tell you whether to bring it in now or whether it can wait.
